Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Conducts
Required List Maintenance Activities

Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark will conduct voter list maintenance on the evening of August 13. List maintenance procedures are outlined in section 98.065 of the State of Florida's Election Laws, which are available as a publication in PDF format at http://election.dos.state.fl.us/ under Forms and Publications.

According to the state statutes, "The Supervisor must designate as inactive all voters who have been sent an address confirmation final notice and who have not returned the postage prepaid, preaddressed return form within 30 days or for which the final notice has been returned as undeliverable.”

The Statute continues: "If the voter does not update his or her voter registration information, request an absentee ballot, or vote by the second general election after being placed on the inactive list, the voter’s name shall be removed from the statewide voter registration system and the voter shall be required to reregister to have his or her name restored to the statewide voter registration system.”

Election offices are required to update their lists a minimum of each odd-numbered year, no later than 90 days before any federal election.

After the voter list is updated, these will be the results:

  • 3,122 voters changed from active to inactive status
  • 2,525 address change notices will be mailed the week of August 17
  • 297 address confirmation requests will be mailed the week of August 17
  • 1,916 address confirmation final notices will be mailed the week of August 17
For updated voter totals in Pinellas County, go to www.votepinellas.com Voter registration statistics are updated nightly and posted across the top of the home page. These statistics reflect active registered voters. Inactive voters are not included in registration figures, but they remain on the voter database and only need to update their voter information, request a ballot or vote in an election to return to active voter status.
